About The Meanderthals:
Our Mission
We are a troupe of traveling actors who are endeavoring to rediscover what theatre means to the world. With the easy accessibility to film and the increasing costs of theatre what makes people come to the stage? Maybe the stage should come to them! We are experimenting with all forms of theatre and what it means to bring theatre back to the people... whether it's outside, on the street, in a big playhouse, or in your backyard! Interaction, improv, scripted work, masks, commedia dell'arte shakespeare, classics, modern plays, interaction, sword fighting, etc etc! You name it!
Our History
Cofounder and Artistic Director, Sydney Schwindt had been toying with the idea of a traveling theatre company since she was attending The Hartt School for her B.F.A. in Theatre. She has explored many mediums including Commedia dell'Arte, Stage Combat, and Clown.
Dylan Michael Collins grew up around Renaissance Faires and immersed in theatre. The improv and interaction comes second nature, but he has spent over twenty years honing his guitar and music skills. Entertainment has always been a passion for him whether it be music or theatre and he hopes to employ them both with the Meanderthals!
These Meanderthals met when they were both working together at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire in 2013. Their love of interactive theatre and storytelling brought them together to explore the possibilities of the Meanderthals. Always open to new ideas and trying different venues, genres, etc, these two are willing to take on the world... literally! Meander on, friends!
